Do I need my own kayak or equipment?

No. Everything you need is provided for a taster session — boat, paddle, buoyancy aid and helmet. Just bring clothes you do not mind getting wet and a towel.

How much does a taster session cost?

A taster session costs £10, which includes all equipment and instruction.

Where do sessions take place?

Through the winter we paddle at Dawlish Leisure Centre pool on Friday evenings, and in the summer we are out on Teignmouth beach, by our clubhouse, on Wednesday evenings.

Do I need to be able to swim?

You should be comfortable in the water and able to swim a short distance, but you do not need to be a strong swimmer. You will always be wearing a buoyancy aid.

Can children come along?

Yes. We welcome younger paddlers accompanied by a parent or guardian. Let us know their age when you get in touch and we will make sure the session suits them.

Teignbridge Canoe Club is based in Teignmouth on the Eastcliff side of the beach. Our club nights are Wednesday evenings from the clubhouse from April to September and at the Dawlish Sports Centre from October to March on Friday evenings.

There are organised paddles every weekend that are mostly in the South Devon area but include visits to Wales, Scotland and The Scilly Isles. There are a wide range of activities from our 'Paddle Adventures' that include all kinds of craft from SUP's to White Water and Sea Kayaks.

Within our club we have a growing number of Family members, a vibrant Shepaddles community, those who love the surf, and those who relish running rivers from the more tranquil to more adventurous white-water, the sea kayakers who love to explore our majestic coastline, to those who have a passion for surfing. From SUP to SOT to open Canoe, to short boat or surf boat to long boat! Not forgetting an active social calendar. There is always something being planned, or developed and we include.

If you are a beginner or early intermediate paddler simply sign up for a '£10.00 - Taster' session which we hold every month.
If you are a more experienced paddler you are welcome to join one of our regular sessions.

You will need to sign up to the Paddle UK/Justgo site which is free. Then book a “Taster” which costs £10.00. We will then contact you to arrange your session.

We would love you to come and paddle with us. Our initial 'taster/induction' sessions are just £10, there are a list of dates for these sessions below on this page. If you are an experienced kayaker you can join us any week. We have activities almost every weekend as well.

Join us on Friday evenings through the winter months at Dawlish Leisure centre. We help you with all the skills you need for white water and sea paddling, rescues, strokes, rolling.

During the Summer we meet at the Eastcliff clubhouse by Teignmouth Beach on Wednesday evenings at 6.00.

We have teamed up with St Brides Bay to get members branded hoodies, and caps at cost price.
