Chairman’s May Update
Hi all,
I have to say that the Whitewater season to date has been one of the most disappointing that I can remember and typically just when the season has finished the heavens have opened up and the rivers filled. However the water levels have been dropping very quickly and has only been usable for short periods. I recently drove past Newbridge, the get in for the Loop, and was amazed that there were paddlers trying to run the river whilst the water level was well below the slab. Apart from their boats getting damaged, they were bound to provoke confrontation from fishermen. I appreciate that season tickets are no longer issued and there is a more relaxed attitude to paddling out of season but common sense needs to prevail and the consideration of fishermen and fish sporing areas needs to be taken into account. The issue of paddling out of season has been discussed on many occasions by the clubs various committee's over the years and at present the consensus is that the club will not run organized Whitewater trips out season unless they are man made as is the Trywreryn in North Wales. Should members feel the need to paddle Whitewater rivers such as the Dart out of season then they will be doing so with out the support of the club and will be privately run trips.
Soon to be announced are the all new Lazy Jacks Club T shirts and Hoodies for purchase, they are excellent quality and look very smart with a discrete club logo on the front.
At last it's that time again when the summer club kicks off on every Wednesday night, don't forget to come along and bring your friends, We now have two more trained coaches in Kevin Jones and Ian Johnson who have recently passed their level 1 coach exam, congratulations to both of them.
I look forward to seeing you all soon.
